Zaid Khan

MA Intern

Hi! My name is Zaid Khan (he/him). I am a therapist that will work towards helping you to know, understand, and embrace your values; explore meaning from life events and circumstances, and ultimately your unique identity formation. All with the goal of bringing more peace, joy and happiness to life.

Experiencing gloom is something we all feel. At the same time, I believe that people are resilient and are capable of finding color within the grey. Together, we can work on making progress towards meaningful change. I also acknowledge that the road can be long and winding, and often has barriers bigger than what we have imagined we can overcome, therefore my goal is to always meet you where you are, at this very moment.

In my life, I’ve learned first-hand how hard life can be. I’ve faced adversities relating to mental and emotional health, Islamophobia, gender expectations, misdirected burnout, and painful family dynamics. Pursuing my own therapy at times has helped me process and reflect on these parts of myself and my life, while showing me how to find joy in the present moment and hope for a better tomorrow.

Life can feel like a never ending storm of stressors that’s worsened by anxiety and depression. Together, we can design a journey of resilience to help withstand the storm, and explore paths towards inner-healing. I look forward to listening to your life experiences with curiosity and empathy, while empowering you to live your most authentic life. Our collaboration will work towards fostering self-awareness and self-exploration through open dialogue, philosophical inquiry, and creative expression. I would be honored to be a part of your journey and would feel grateful to be able to help you and others through talk-therapy.

My therapeutic style draws from various modalities to customize my approach to meet your unique needs. I use specific techniques based on your goals and the factors impacting you. For OCD clients, as an intern, I work closely with a seasoned clinician in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD and severe anxiety.

In my free time, I like to embrace my inner-child. I play ultimate-frisbee and ice-hockey, and I watch movies that make me laugh and cry (sometimes at the same time). I also like to explore the unique neighborhoods of Seattle on foot knowing that inspiration can be found in unlikely places and that adventure is right around the corner.
